Withdrawl

Okay.

So I was sitting here at my desk fooling around on Facebook on a less-than-impressive Saturday afternoon when I started watching episodes from my favorite show: True Blood (which is amazing by the way!). As I sat there and watched the last four episodes of season two, I began to realize how much I missed it. Craved it, is probably the right string of words.

I think I'm suffering from TBW - True Blood withdrawal.

Season two ended around the beginning of September, and it isn't due to return until June 2010. Tell me this isn't madness?! I don't know about you, but I think HBO must really be trying to milk the whole 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder' concept - because it might actually work. I'm dying here!

And for those who haven't actually seen it yet, it's an absolute must. It's HBO's biggest hit since The Sopranos and I'm pretty sure that True Blood has already surpassed the ratings of The Sopranos' series finale on more than one occassion. Which is huge - for a cable network. It's probably one of the greatest examples of the success in marketing vampires to the public; after Twilight of course. As if anything could surpass Twilight.

That was sarcasm by the way.

But with that said, True Blood isn't aimed towards the Twilight age-group. It's geared more towards a more adult audience. Which is probably a great idea in light of the regular bouts of nudity and foul language. It's all good though. The plot is amazing and is full of more amazing performances. One that I must commend is the performance by Nelsan Ellis who plays the charismatic Lafayette Reynolds. He's black, gay, a drug dealer and is a whole lot of fabulous. I mean it. This man deserves all the acclaim and success he will receive in the future. I see an Emmy in his midst! Oh, and let's not forget Alexander Skarsgard as the Nordic vampire Eric Northman. Oh my gosh. Don't even get me started, I'll chat for days, I swear. I'll write a whole blog post on him one day.

So. Amazingly. Good. Looking.

Anyways, the way I've been dealing with TBW is reading the original Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris. The books on which True Blood is based on. And I have to say it's been working.

Thank God for books.

Check True Blood out on HBO, your Sunday's at 9 will never be the same.
