Just a Thought...

I've finally had some time to just sit down and relax without having that disgusting tick in the back of my head telling - sorry, demanding - me to do my blasted homework. Well, I still do have homework to do, but not exactly anything of high importance.

I label everything that way.

Moving on though, I don't really have anything in particular to talk about. No television show in particular to gush about - though, that doesn't mean that I don't. I just figured it was time to step away from that for now. But, I will talk about something that does pertain to television. Because, if I didn't, that would defeat the whole purpose of the blog.

I was recently on Just Jared (a gossip site of sorts), and I read a blog post related to Lauren Conrad, the ex 'Hills' star that recently wrote that book 'L.A Candy'? You know, the book that's now becoming A MOVIE? Yes, I don't know how that happened, but it seems as if anything can become a movie now a days. But that's besides the point. The real point of all my blabbering would be the fact that in the little interview she mentioned her television obsession with 'Glee' (which isn't all that surprising, because I am too), and The Discovery Channel. Including shows like, 'Dirty Jobs' and 'Deadliest Catch'.

Really?

Now, don't get me wrong, I adore The Discovery Channel as well as 'Dirty Jobs' (haven't quite gotten into the latter) - I do! But knowing that Lauren Conrad, likes it as well, is kind of...for lack of a better word, surprising. Now, that got me thinking, if people like Lauren Conrad likes a show like that, maybe there's hope for people like her after all. For someone who is as judgemental to think that people such as her wouldn't even bother with a show like that, it made me like her a little bit. And yes, I know it's laughable to say that the only reason why I like her now is because she has an interest in The Discovery Channel, but I can't help it. Maybe she isn't as much of an airhead as I once thought.

Just a thought.

Withdrawl

Okay.

So I was sitting here at my desk fooling around on Facebook on a less-than-impressive Saturday afternoon when I started watching episodes from my favorite show: True Blood (which is amazing by the way!). As I sat there and watched the last four episodes of season two, I began to realize how much I missed it. Craved it, is probably the right string of words.

I think I'm suffering from TBW - True Blood withdrawal.

Season two ended around the beginning of September, and it isn't due to return until June 2010. Tell me this isn't madness?! I don't know about you, but I think HBO must really be trying to milk the whole 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder' concept - because it might actually work. I'm dying here!

And for those who haven't actually seen it yet, it's an absolute must. It's HBO's biggest hit since The Sopranos and I'm pretty sure that True Blood has already surpassed the ratings of The Sopranos' series finale on more than one occassion. Which is huge - for a cable network. It's probably one of the greatest examples of the success in marketing vampires to the public; after Twilight of course. As if anything could surpass Twilight.

That was sarcasm by the way.

But with that said, True Blood isn't aimed towards the Twilight age-group. It's geared more towards a more adult audience. Which is probably a great idea in light of the regular bouts of nudity and foul language. It's all good though. The plot is amazing and is full of more amazing performances. One that I must commend is the performance by Nelsan Ellis who plays the charismatic Lafayette Reynolds. He's black, gay, a drug dealer and is a whole lot of fabulous. I mean it. This man deserves all the acclaim and success he will receive in the future. I see an Emmy in his midst! Oh, and let's not forget Alexander Skarsgard as the Nordic vampire Eric Northman. Oh my gosh. Don't even get me started, I'll chat for days, I swear. I'll write a whole blog post on him one day.

So. Amazingly. Good. Looking.

Anyways, the way I've been dealing with TBW is reading the original Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris. The books on which True Blood is based on. And I have to say it's been working.

Thank God for books.

Check True Blood out on HBO, your Sunday's at 9 will never be the same.

The Fall's Got Me

So, I've been watching the 2009 fall season of shows pretty obsessively this year (when I find time to breathe between university homework assignments).

And no, it's not because I'm a T.V. addict and can't find anything better to do with my time...It's just, well, good. There's a slew of shows that I can't seem to pry my eyes away from. And frankly, Rogers On Demand has probably been my saving grace - it's amazing! It simply doesn't allow me to miss all my favorite shows. That can be a bad thing, but let's not dwell on this for now.

Moving on to the real meat...

Let's talk about 'Glee'. Okay, how amazing is this show? Its got everything I live and breathe for - music, drama and music. It's not bad music either. The music is either current, or are ridiculous throwbacks that will get you up on your feet dancing whether dancing is your thing or not (when Matthew Morrison started singing 'I Wanna Sex You Up' by Color Me Badd, I nearly had a brain aneurysm - in a good way). Not to mention that high definition makes it pretty damn visually stimulating - something that is a must for me. It's amazing. Watching this show makes me wish I had a talent.

Because folks, I am talentless.

Another show that has me in the palm of it's hands, would have to be 'The Vampire Diaries'. I know, I know. Kill her now, right? But I must confess, it is a guilty pleasure of mine - and honestly, it isn't that bad (though, I haven't read the novel, so I really have nothing to compare it to). The plot isn't exactly solid, and some of the acting is mediocre at best; but it's well on its way. It also may be filled with teenage angst, love triangles and vampires, but that happens to be the stuff that catches my interest these days. Sad as it is. Be that as it may, it's pretty darn good. Besides, there's enough eye candy in there to last me as few more episodes, I can't tell a lie.

I urge you to check them both out - especially 'Glee'. That is all.
